Image The Depot Trust has just launched a new development programme named "Bliss" for girls aged 13 to 25 years. Bliss is run by one of our volunteer youth workers, Jamie Myers, who is supported and supervised by our senior youth worker, Jodee Millman. Jamie has been doing a fantastic job at organising events, securing event funding, and in facilitating the group for the girls involved. At this stage the group is running with about 15 girls, whom have been a good number to launch the new programme. We have already witnessed strong interest from several new girls (in the early stages of formulating the group) with the excitement of conducting our first Bliss event.

Bliss is focusing on the need to provide positive role models for young ladies in the Nelson area. And seeks to facilitate this through dynamic events, including fashion evenings, seminars on beauty treatments and by building positive friendships and encouraging positive peer pressure, through positive role modelling.

With some shocking statistics of teenage pregnancy, delinquency and crime amongst girls in this age group, we see Bliss as a needed push in the right direction. We are excited to see this programme develop and we look with expectation to see many young ladies lives benefited through involvement with the Bliss programme.

At this stage Bliss will be running on a monthly basis with one fundraising event and one activity event run each month. Please click here to read more about what Bliss is doing for Nelson's young people.
